In Sight

(a sonnet)

People that are willing to pay their dues
Achieving, in time, if they don’t tire
Spend thought creatively to never lose
Test mettle and spirit to the wire
Far down within that dank dwelling basement
Cultivate flowers of your reflection
Look in a mirror; see what your face meant
Art’s tough soul is invention, intention
Exceeding more than a garden of one
First ideas explode like sub-atoms split
Disheartening moods delay being done
Through darkness individuals don’t quit!
Entering pleas to find beauty outright
Writing acoustically yet felt in sight
