Simon Says
Simon wasn’t certain of anything that groggy night. About to call the cops, his neighbor’s cries subsided into bad dreams until the following midnight…
Heard through the vent; ceiling-shaking screams:
“Put an F-in shirt on!”
“My Stereo!”
“I’m sick of your loser songs! …Get out!”
Knock-knock! No joke.
“Police. Open the door at once!”
(to be continued…)

Is this a Flash attack by Adam. You are cranking out the 55s!!!
Nice one Adam
Happy Friday

A “Flash attack” in more than one way, Leslie. Unfortunately, I lived in bunch of different apartments throughout my life and was privy to being reminded of such ugly brutality.

nice 55…well at least in how its told. had some wacked out neighbors over the years, so i can relate. good ones now, so…
May 14, 2010 at 10:23 am
Thanks… my current neighbors are kind and peaceful. Though some of the places I’ve lived made me realize abuse is no inflated stat.

Oh dear…calling on the police ….not so nice….
neighbors can be such a pain…
excellent 55!

Mine is here
Have you an AWESOME weekend!

Just read yours…. Cool 55 with thematic sadness.
Have a great weekend too!

Oh, my. Things go on behind our neighbors walls, and often apartment buildings broadcast them to everyone around.
May 14, 2010 at 12:32 pm
I hate to hear people fighting. One place in particular where I lived years ago was really bad when it came to the neighbors broadcasting their disputes. Thanks, Patti 🙂
May 14, 2010 at 12:18 pm
I agree that it is hard when you have neighbors that just do not get the way of life. Right now, things are ok in my neighborhood also. Have a great weekend Adam. 🙂
May 14, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Glad to hear you have some good neighbors out there on “the left coast,” Doraz. lol Enjoy your weekend 🙂
May 14, 2010 at 12:52 pm
Since I live away from my neighbors, my noise level is quite low…I have never adjusted to having neighbors close to me…I hate knowing about every aspect of their lives….sorry to hear you don’t have good neighbors.
May 14, 2010 at 1:11 pm
My neighbors are nice now. I was writing about a situation from about five years ago. 55 words allowed me to post a clean version of it. Enjoy your weekend, Charles

May 14, 2010 at 4:20 pm
That’s so nice they offered to mend your fence, Jingle. Very kind of them 🙂
Have a fantastic Friday!

I take it a 55 is a word count? D’oh I’m being thick lol! Maybe I could show this to some of my housemates when they come crashing in a 4am…teehee
May 14, 2010 at 5:39 pm
LOL Being forced to read my blog at 4am prior to crashing may be suitable punishment 😉

This is great Adam! Feels like it should be continued – so – what happens next? In fact you could do this in Flash Chapters:) Looking forward to more of this Flash Fiction!
May 15, 2010 at 7:03 am
That is a fantastic idea, Lynda! I hadn’t thought of writing 55’s in serial form. Hmm… Think I have the perfect topic for it 🙂
Thanks

May 16, 2010 at 3:13 pm
Interesting bit of writing about the subject Adam.
May 16, 2010 at 3:25 pm
Thanks for the feedback and visit. Appreciate it. It is kind of cryptic. Please come back for Part 2 🙂
May 16, 2010 at 6:16 pm
Nothing cryptic Adam, it’s just that I am an expert in this area, unfortunately and it is always interesting for me to read what others write about it. Different perspectives always give a broader picture of anything. I would like to commend your earlier comment that abuse stats are not inflated. In fact, it is an epidemic. 🙂
May 16, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Unfortunately, abuse is a harsh reality. It is a subject that can be hard to discuss. But I believe if we can talk about it openly, we can increase awareness and hopefully inspire change.
