  1. Yes, I saw. Brian is indeed a true joy, isn’t he?

Meanwhile, I have added you to my blogroll on my sidebar. Prepare to be stalked by the ultimate unscary stalker-ette, me. LOL.

Re: Alan Ginsberg…he did a book signing in the next town over and I got to meet him, albeit briefly. He signed “Howl” for me, and also “Iron Horse” which I had picked up on a trip to California years earlier. I guess it was a limited edition or something, and he was quite stoked that I had it. I hadn’t even realized that it was such a rarity.

We have something in common, because my first poetic love was the Beats. Ginsberg, Ferlinghetti, Corso, they all spoke to me like crazy. Once I read Kerouac’s “On The Road”, I was off and running, and read most of his books, but not the first one, that you mentioned. Have you ever read “Tristessa”? That may be my favorite, though I’m not sure those books would talk to me now, as they did in my 20s.

I have a new poem up. I’d be honored if you’d have a look. 🙂

  2. That is such a cool Ginsberg story! I lost track of how many times I read “On the Road” (finished it four times at least). Also read Dharma Bums, The Subterraneans, Visions of Cody, and Big Sur. Haven’t read Tristessa, but definitely will now. It’s funny how books we read in our 20’s don’t have the same impact much later. Might sound weird, I feel that way about some Existential lit. like Dostoyevski, and Romantic Era poetry.

Thanks for the blog roll add. Will do the same. Looking forward to your new poem. The honor is mine 🙂

  3. Happy Birthday Brian. Adam you are truly a wonderful man.
