    cool idea Adam!

  2. LOL Great response. smilies

  3. ha. fun picture….once you get to the end of the block just turn around you will be alright…

  4. LOL Exactly. Usually do lots of walking before I clear my mind and begin again 🙂

  5. I say…cut through the backyard…that’s where all the good poems are hiding. 😉

  6. LOL Now why didn’t i think of that! Cheers

  7. Great picture. Will think up a haiku and post on my blog. I did a one stop last Weds too. :O)

  8. Excellent! I look forward to reading your haiku, Madeleine 🙂

  9. This has been happening more and more to me on my regular blog, so I’ve been listening to more music and going for walks.

  10. Looks like a short block and a nice day and you’re clearly not being chased… The words will come when they’re ready…Besides, It’s no good to force it….

And in unison we all say, “That’s what she said” 😉

    Hugs Adam…
    ~Shell

  11. I’m sure it won’t last long 😉

  12. Ha! Nice. Creative way of showing it off. Hope it passes you quickly by!

  13. Start with a word, and a word will come.

    Wishing you well!

  14. Thanks, Maureen 🙂

  15. “Writer’s block is a disease for which there is no cure, only respite.” ~Terri Guillemets

I’m sure your block will clear very soon 🙂

  16. Surfing around the One Shot links always inspires me to write.
Appreciate the quote and kind words, Gabriela

  17. haha..YOU are something Adam you know that..;))) love the idea..but yeah..writer blocks were never my game, but i do enjoy the reading part most..within the lines of poetry, i find myself here and there, collecting some of the missing beats in me..:) SUPER one stop 🙂

    • smiles… Glad you enjoy the pic. Hope all is well, in health especially. I’m trying to get back the beats too:)
      cheers, Abeer

  18. Now that is a picture that says a thousand words…no need for a poem!

  19. hehe… that’s what i figured, SuziCate 🙂

  20. Love this! And don’t let anybody tell you that this wasn’t poetry. it was pure poetry, more eloquent than words could have been.

    • Patti, you’re the best! I think we’ve a great crowd that always pushes the proverbial envelope for what “poetry” can be. It’s all good 🙂

  21. I totally know how that feels. When I’m having one I try not to think about it at all.Music I guess is always my saviour. And good pics.I look at pictures to inspire me.Sometimes pictures tells more than words can ever do!

    LOVE IT!!BRILLIANT!!

    • Music helps me too, as does surfing photos. Glad to know we cope with it similarly.
Appreciate you sharing what works for you 🙂 cheers

  22. I’ve taken a stroll or two down that block myself..

  23. G, by the amount of creative ideas you post, I am not surprised. cheers, brother

    Clever Dustus, very Clever….bkm

  25. So many times I get in that panic mode of what will I ever write about. Usually going outside and doing chores or hanging out in the pasture gives me some inspiration! That would be my version of a walk. I love your answer to writer’s block!

    Mine is here. http://razzamadazzle.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/song-of-my-heart/

    • I have not a pasture to clear my thoughts in (would love that), but chores and distracting excursions, whereby I can forget everything and let my mind go blank for a while, usually helps. TY, Teresea 🙂

  26. Ha ha! Clever. I prefer to think that there are too many thoughts and words competing for air time which causes a bottleneck on the way to a blank page.

  27. Good photo.

Hope the block shifts soon enough.

  28. ha…you know i have already commented….as bri says i am sure you will find your muse round that corner…cheers my friend pete

    • I think we’re all feeling it a little these days…. quite a first 16 weeks to say the least 🙂 Glad your back and rocking your posts, Pete.

  29. You need break from words… and yes I agree… walking does help a lot… for me what really works is I walk to a peaceful place like a temple nearby and chant mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” get on with my meditation… which renews me… Sea beach, Rains, a walk in the woods and watching sunrise are other beautiful triggers..

  30. I do not meditate often enough, and resolve to make a continual conscious effort to change that aspect of my lifestyle. Your comment, Shashi, makes me want to go hiking. Think I will do that. Good advice. Thank you, Sir

    • Thanks Dustus and just to add… once you get that high of meditation, it becomes addictive just like jogging…. enjoy your hike…

  31. Ahhh! What a great picture. We should have a one shot using this pic!

We all have been there. For me, I had writers block for a year. I feel like I am starting over.

    Thanks for posting this

    Wysteria

  32. Hi Wysteria. That could be a good prompt. I don’t mind if people want to take a crack at the pic…. I went through a very long period of writer’s block a while back—one of the roughest periods of my life. Understand that starting over feeling.

FYI, Chris G. and I have been working on refining One Stop’s Sunday Photography feature (One Shoot). We’ve already secured some outstanding guests, and plan posting stunning picture prompts each week to further celebrate the art of photography, as well as our poetic perceptions of that form.
    Cheers 🙂

  33. Maybe you have writer’s block, but not creativity block. This is so clever. It’s comforting, in a strange way, to know that we can all suffer from this same condition at one time or other.

  34. They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, but this one was worth just two. Creative One Shot, Adam!

  35. Hahaha! That’s the best. Seriously, it just made me LOL. Very creative take. Don’t worry, it will come back soon 🙂

  36. Great use of an image to communicate a message perfectly. Nice!

  37. Respect your feedback always, Ben. Thanks for visiting 🙂

  38. Writers block can be troubling, good thing for chocolate cake! If I could send some through my fingertips into your comment box here, I would. Chocolate always helps my writer’s block immensely. 🙂

  39. Thanks, Terresa. I cannot wait for the day when goodies can be sent via blog or email! Chocolate cake always seems to help me. Yum 🙂

  40. Great picture Adam! This ‘block’ is universal sometimes it seems. It’s a street (or cul de sac) everyone has visited đŸ˜Ļ

  41. It’s funny how different things (muses) help in clearing that writer’s block on different occasions… don’t you think?
I hope you are out of it by now though! 🙂

    A splendid click to explain a not-so-splendid phenomenon!! 😉
    As ever, you rock Adam!

  42. I’m out of it. No worries, Kavita, though it does seem intense and futile when going through it. Appreciate your kind encouragement. Cheers 🙂

  43. do you need to borrow my sledgehammer? it works pretty good on cinder blocks…smiles.

  44. Ha! Is that what you do, Bri? I usually just break them with karate kicks. lol
    smiles, buddy

  45. Ha! Perfect pairing. Did you stage this or find it, you lucky soul if you found it!

  46. Leslie, I plead the 5th 😉 lol

  47. I’m in danger of sounding arrogant here but i have yet to encounter this writers block. I am dreading the day. lol
Fight it Adam, unless of course you are just posting this for humour

  48. Adam, this is clever and cool!!!!

I hath no idea how I landed here but I hath certainly enjoyed browsing thy art and indeed thy Space, I trust that thou wilt be enjoying a very dark and exciting evening, opposed to waiting to see what happens as thou step beyond the block and out of the void…

There are no boundaries when fluently writing, thy pen pressed to paper eagerly transposing from one scenario to the next, scrawling the words as thou energies surge upon the once blank sheet of paper, engulfing the moment with an array of interesting pieces of the puzzle, indeed a snapshot of the finished article imprinted into thy psyche and once pushed to completion then the journey continues as thy reader base delves deeply into thy waking mindset, forging a path into thy legend, a chronicle of speculative for instances to enhance the moment and to captivate, in readiness for thy next chapter, so much so is the art of writing and the writer, an artist in his own realm of brilliance…

  50. Always hate seeing that sign…

  51. I miss reading you / listening to you read every Sunday, Adam. I do appreciate, however, that every writer needs the hiatus to reaffirm the purpose behind writing. I do hope to see you posting again in the near future.

  52. hedgewitch Says:

I echo Kerry. You are much missed. The block can be bad, but there’s always something to say, even if you just say it to yourself or write down a dream. Write something every day, is my motto, when this happens, even if it’s total drek, and just keep the synapses in the habit of wrestling with words. But everyone has their own way of dealing. Thoughts are with you my friend.

  53. moondustwriter Says:

yes but I know you have more tucked under the other arm…
    Hugs Mr. Dustus

  54. Hey Adam SOo pleased to see you ~ bet that walk cleared the block
but hang on Leslie spotted that file under your arm ~ bundles of brilliance I’ll be bound ~ don’t forget to add me to your blogroll don’t want to miss a thread ~ hgs you ~ Lib xxx

  55. Hey! Whatever happened dude?
Don’t believe the Block thingie.. c’mon, give the words run for their meanings.. now!

    Wishing you a nice one..
    Mega hugs xoxo

  56. Time away is always a good thing… as long as you come back! 🙂

  61. whats up beautiful…feels like forever since i talked to you…just popping into say hi!

  62. Thanks Everybody. I’ll probably post sometime soon; not really sure when. There have been changes to just about all major aspects of my life since summer began. Overall, I’m in a much better place now. Writing tons—sloppily, though feeling as if almost back and perhaps on a better track mentally. The time away has been good for me. Almost there.

@ bmiller “You talking to me?” (said in best De Niro voice) lol 🙂

And about this picture… that’s me walking away from my old writing spot. Was sad to leave. I’m grateful to be back in Michigan.

  63. Yeah, great to “hear” from you again and hope to see you back soon.

  64. All your time at One Stop now? Shall I look for you there? Love all the good stuff happening to you that I see on your blog.

  65. Say whaa? You, a bully? Okay. chuckle. I’ve never thought that. Catch you around soon 🙂

  66. Will be good to see you around friend… been missing your words…
